Chancellor Regina Stanback Stroud, Ed.D.
In November 2018, the residents of Alameda County overwhelmingly approved Measure G, the $800M general obligation bond supporting the Students, Faculty and Staff of the Peralta Community College District (PCCD). PCCD includes Laney College in downtown Oakland, Merritt College in the Oakland Hills, the College of Alameda on Alameda Island, and Berkeley City College (formerly Vista College) in downtown Berkeley.
PCCD is a vital community resource and must have state of art facilities. Students from Berkeley, Emeryville, Alameda, Oakland, and throughout the East Bay Area rely on the Peralta Community College District for affordable higher education. Measure G will upgrade aging classrooms, technology, and science labs; expand job training facilities; and acquire, construct, and repair PCCD’s sites. Technology will be upgraded, and Distance Educational opportunities will be increased. These improvements will better prepare Alameda County’s students to attend four-year universities, upskill for jobs of the 21st century, and improve their foundational skills. These students will be prepared to succeed wherever their dreams take them.
General Obligation Bond funds may be used for the construction, rehabilitation, or replacement of college facilities, including the furnishing and equipping of those facilities. Bond funds may also be used to acquire real property in support of the college’s educational mission. Bond funds will not be used for operational expenses, such as administrator salaries, supplies or other operating expenses.
In accordance with bond spending rules, PCCD has convened a citizen’s Bond Measures Oversight Committee (BMOC) to keep the public informed. This committee will review all bond expenditures, review the annual audit prepared by an independent auditing firm, and ensure that funds are spent according to the terms of the ballot language.

I, along with the Board of Trustees, Students, Faculty and Staff of the Peralta Community College District sincerely appreciate the generosity and support of the citizens of Alameda County. I hope you will join me in looking forward to a bright and exciting future for PCCD.
Sincerely,
Dr. Regina Stanback-Stroud, Chancellor
Peralta Community College District
